Silkey Gardens LLC, June-bearing Strawberries
There are many varieties of June-bearing strawberries which can be categorized by "when in the season" they ripen. The season duration of each type of June-bearing strawberry is approximately 2 weeks.

Silkey Gardens has planted several different varieties in order to extend the picking season and to offer diversity to our customers. Three examples of the varieties we offered in 2006 are Earliglow, Kent, and Sparkle. Earliglow is our earliest berry, which produces medium, firm, and flavorful fruit. Kent is a mid-season berry, generally producing large, firm, bright red, flavorful fruit. Our late-season berry is Sparkle, a medium to large, dark red, juicy berry.

In 2007 we added Annapolis, Itasca, Cavandish, Mesabi and Jewel to our list of varieties. For 2008 we are adding Northeaster, Brunswick, Dar Select and Winona varieties We now have a total of 12 different varieties to choose from. We are still testing to see which varieties work best for our customers and appreciate customer feedback.

Our June-bearing strawberries should start bearing the third week of June and should last through mid July depending on weather conditions.
